I am traveling from CT to Ocean Isle Beach in July and wanted to know of any suggestions of places to stay at about the half-way point in our trip. Since we want to break up the drive we were looking for a place to stay with 5 of us including 3 children ages 15,12,and 10. I would love to stay close to our route so as not to spend tons of time getting back on our way the next morning.

I too will be in Ocean Isle in July. We are staying at the Ocean Isle Inn. This will be our third time there and we love it. It%26#39;s very quiet and laid back. Hope you like it.
Depends on where in CT - the prior poster says Roanoke - but that is NOT on I95. If you are traveling down I95 see how far it is to Richmond - since your kids are older you won%26#39;t have to stop too many times during the first day%26#39;s drive and there are PLENTY of hotels on 95 - so wherever you decide to stop will be fine.
WE just booked our Ocean isle trip for June! Good luck and have fun!
We are doing the 95S route. This will be my first time at OIB. I have stayed in Holdens Beach but that was in the 80%26#39;s. My family is having a mini reunion and there will be 28 of us in a huge house that my parents rented. We were thinking of stopping in DC or upper Virginia. If anyone has a specific place that they can suggest that is clean and priced right that would be appreciated.
The traffic around DC is awful, so if possible, schedule your drive so you will be well south of DC. Fredericksburg might be a good place to consider stopping for the night if the time is right. Most morning traffic is going north into DC but the entire area should be avoided if possible. There are lots of places just off the interstate and usually reservations are not necessary. Just pick a good stopping point and look for lodging and restaurant signs for your favorites. Good luck.
