How is the Hyatt Place?
Marriott downtown is really close, may consider getting two rooms there.
Suite hotel within 5-6 miles of downtown Greensboro
I stayed in the Hyatt Place in Raleigh recently - they are all renovated Amerisuites and they are great ( 42 in plasma TVs!). But, they NOT two room suites. They are one room with a half wall.
Homewood Suites is not far from town. Check them out.

Suite hotel within 5-6 miles of downtown Greensboro
The Homewood Suites is by the airport. There are tons of hotels on Wendover, which would be an easy drive downtown.
I looked up the Hyatt Place as I didn%26#39;t recognize it. It used to be Amerisuites. My parents always stay there when they lose power during ice-storms. This hotel never loses power, and they seem to like it. It is in the Wendover Ave. area with tons of restaurants and shopping nearby.
The two nicest hotels in Greensboro are only a couple of miles from downtown, and they are in a VERY safe neighborhood.
The Proximity Hotel -- upscale and very new.
The O%26#39;Henry -- upscale (the best hotel in town) and very close to shopping and movie theaters and restaurants.
Both these hotels are owned by the same person. They are very close to each other, but the O%26#39;Henry is closer (walking distance)to the store, etc. Both are expensive (for Greensboro). Proximity $179-$199 and the O%26#39;Henry around $249.
