Has anyone rented from Avon cottages???
Avon Cottages
Several years ago, in 2004 or 2005, I forget. They were not fancy but very good for the money since you can get a house right on the beach cheaply. My memory was that it felt like an old-style beach house, the furniture was old, things were worn, but it was a good deal.
We are going back this year to Avon but decided to go with fancier digs.
Avon Cottages
Thanks for the info. We found a house we would like to rent through Colony Realty - but the rental agreement has scared us off. Do all the realty companies have the same long involved rental agreement??? We were thinking a place like Avon Cottages may not make you sign your life away like the others.
Not sure when you are going and have a rental agreement with me as well that I am reluctant to sign and pay upfront given a recent bad experience in La Jolla Calfornia doing that and since Feb. was offseason learned that there would have been many better options and some with negotiable rates because of high vacancy rate.
Wonder when you are going? If during high season may be best to go with it as gather OBX very busy then. I am planning trip in April which is off season and will wait until I arrive to view and choose before signing. Planning to arrive in morning and have some areas/options lined up to see and understand from another post here some realtors will take you to view first.
We are going the first week of August. Good luck with your house search.
Cannot speak directly to Avon cottages, however, unless you are staying at a hotel, the rental agreements are standard. I think we have to understand that the homes are owned individually, people want to protect their investments. Although I am sure, or at least hope, that most of us here do treat the rental as our own, many do not. It is because of those people, we have to now conform to an enormous number of rules and legal mumbo jumbo.
What in the rental agreement scared you off? With a little more info, someone may be able to tell you if the lesse is standard for this area.
The rental agreement was 5 pages long single spaced. We decided we didn%26#39;t want to sign anything like that and be held responsible for something we didn%26#39;t do or break. So, we are still going to rent a house, but through a company that owns and rents cottages.
