We are planning a women%26#39;s getaway with some of the women in my family. We range in age from 70 plus to 2 years old. There will be about 6 adults and one child.
We are looking to do a beach getaway this summer. We are wanting something no more that 5 hours from Charlotte, NC, a nice clean beach that is not overcrowded, good places to eat and shop yet not too much congestion but we don%26#39;t want to have to drive far either.
We also want someplace that is not going to be too expensive. (less than $3000/week).
Suggestions?!?!
Where to go (beach vacation in NC or SC)
holden beach nc is great!

I would think the beaches near the area Wilmington would work for. Check into Topsail about 30 min. from Wilmington, nice quiet beach, with a few places to eat, and Wilmington%26#39;s close enough to drive to for nice shops and good eats.
The other recommnedation I would have is Kure Beach.
So many options. Holden, Topsail, Atlantic, Emerald Isle, Carolina, Kure, Wrightsville, and in SC I would look at Harbour Island.
Atlantic, Kure, N. Topsail, and Harbour Island are be at the top of my list.
Check out Litchfield or Pawley%26#39;s Island SC.
With no school age children going....April, May, September and October would help greatly with the crowds. The beach, any beach, is where thousands and millions go every summer. Cost of places to stay are generally half peak summer rates and most every thing is open for business.
