Honeymoon in OBX

Hi,

My husband and I are planning to spend a week in the OBX for our honeymoon. We were looking at last week of May but it looks that the ocean might be too cold for a swim around that time.

When is the best time to visit the OBX? Would early June be OK?

Thanks!!!

May is iffy, but you may be okay going the last week. You can go later in June, but just be aware that the kids get out around here (Winston-Salem) early to mid-June. As soon as the kids are out, the Outer Banks become much busier. Unfortunately, the water will be cool. It just depends on how much time you want to spend in the water. Just know that swimming on the Outer Banks is different. There are sharp drop-offs in areas creating fierce undertows.

I have been in May and the weather was very manageable. Most people without school-age kids enjoy May and September (after Labor Day).

Enjoy!

Last year my husband %26amp; I were in Nags Head the 2nd week of June. Water temps were 70-72 degrees the whole week. I know that%26#39;s warm enough for some, but not for all.

The first two years we started coming to the Outer Banks, we went the first week of June. The first year it was hot, hot, hot and the ocean temperature was fabulous. The next year, no such luck. The water temperature was way to cold and the air temps were only around 70 or so. We even had to heat the pool (the evenings were still quite cool).

Since then we%26#39;ve been going in July - perfect in every way. In my opinion, if you go anywhere from mid June on you should be okay. Don%26#39;t get nervous about ';busy season'; with all the children. As I said, we go 3rd week in July each year, and it is still very peaceful and tranquil - just a little more traffic (which is manageable) and longer waits in restaurants and grocery stores.

You%26#39;ll have a great time.

I always go in late September. After Labor Day...the rates drop from ';In-season'; to ';Off-Season';. The off season rates extend thru the year and into the next year up until April or early May.

June is PRIME time. Great time to go but you%26#39;ll pay more, too.

Hope this helps.
