We have decided on a house. We cannot get into it until July 5th. We are planning on driving from Ohio to OBX on the 4th and check into a motel. Any suggestions on motels on the 4th. Are there fireworks? If so, where should we go to watch? Should we stay slightly away from the OBX on the 4th? Any ideas will be appreciated.

Best advice: book now for the 4th of July. I went to OBX a few years ago for the 4th and didn%26#39;t book a room early enough so my husband and I got one of the last reservations at a local campground and camped for the night.
Another problem is most hotels/motels have a 2 night min. for that weekend.
There will be plenty of fireworks to be seen on the 4th!

Yes, all of your advice is right on! A lot of the places I%26#39;ve looked at on the OBX require more than one night stay. Our large group will all be leaving at different times and probably staying at different places along the way. All of our cell phones are very busy on these ';family'; vacations. Thanks for all your help! Looking at forums and different web-sites are helping to warm these cold winter days and make the time until vacation go a little faster.
