Dinner before a concert?

We%26#39;re going to be at the Bobcats Arena next month for a concert and need restaurant advice.

I%26#39;ve only been to Charlotte once and my then-boss took me to a bob Evans.

Someone tell me there are better options.

We%26#39;re staying at the Residence Inn Uptown and are only in for the one night.

What%26#39;s good in the area near the hotel or arena?

Thanks!

I would suggest going over to Southend ( South Blvd) - lots of restaurants around there... a new Japanese ( can%26#39;t remember the name)..a Carrabbas, Greek Isles is in the area...and then on down on East Blvd- lots of unique eateries. There%26#39;s not much directly around your hotel. If you want to eat uptown, most of the good restaurants are on Tryon St. Best wishes.

No restaurants uptown? Where have you been? In the last 5 years one of the premier cooking schools, Johnston %26amp; Wales, moved it%26#39;s main campus from Charleston, SC to uptown Charlotte. The result is that we have wonderful restaurants to choose from in this city and many are uptown. A great resource for booking reservations is OpenTable.com. Blue is a great restaurant located at 214 N Tryon St. Also at 100 N Tryon is Sonoma, a longstanding good restaurant with a middle eastern slant. Mimosa Grill and Capital Grille are also good. The owners of Sonoma opened another restaurant in the same building that is a tapas style restaurant that is perfect for a pre-show dinner and less expensive than other options. While you%26#39;re here, take a walk around the uptown area. There are many outdoor fountains on the main streets of Trade and Tryon. My husband and I are big foodies and love these new developments in Charlotte. We have been residents here for 7+ years. Hope this helps and that you have a wonderful visit to Charlotte.

Who said there were no restaurants uptown? You just gave some examples of restaurants on Tryon St - to which I referred. There are several options. From where the guest is staying, it is not an easy walk over there. My suggestions for Southend and Dilworth were based on the fact that it is virtually a straight shot for him/her if he%26#39;s at the Residence Inn. I concur there are some good restaurants uptown...they will also tend to be a little pricier but if money is no object....no problem. No need to be offended that I suggested more places than just uptown. RE: Johnson %26amp; Wales - I toured their facility last summer. It%26#39;s a fine institution and a great addition to Charlotte. Best wishes.

You can walk from Residence Inn to Ri-Ra, an Irish pub. Everything I%26#39;ve ever ordered is absolutely delicious, and a great atmosphere to boot. Enjoy!
