HIGH adventure white water rafting...who's the best?

We are a family of 5 adults from Ohio meeting another family of 4 adults from Florida in North Carolina (or some half way point) in July or August to Whitewater Raft. We want a high adventure high quality experience, any suggestions? We are also looking to rent a cabin for a few days.

Thanks so much for any help.

You could do the real thing in the Nantahala Forest ( the best WW rafting in the state) or...you can visit the U.S. National Whitewater Center here in Charlotte ( google it) ...or do both ( they are about 3 hours apart). Best wishes.

The Charlotte Park is good, maybe even great for a man made experience. I have not paddled it, my brother and his son have. They are fine kayakers and enjoyed it very much. They are great people there. The Nanty is great for first timers and there are plenty of places to rent a raft or get a guided raft as well. Want to kick it up a notch travel a little further west for a wild ride on the Ocoee. Many of the rafting companies in the Gorge will have trips to the Ocoee.

Please note the Nantahala River is cold even in the dead of the summer (around 48 degrees F) and little kids may not like it, but it is fun. There are few stops along the river where you can pull over and swim.

try the oconee river just across the border in tenn. now that%26#39;s a thrill! site of the %26#39;96 olympics, it%26#39;s a great river with lots of outfitters near by, enjoy!
