Which are the best festivals in the area

I plan to visit Raleigh. I would like to see one of Ralieghs festivals or anywhere else nearby. Which are the better ones to go to ? Any time of year is fine. I see the Reniassance is coming up in April. How is that one ? I wouuld prefer something unique to the area.

Which are the best festivals in the area

Most weekends at the fairgrounds there is a really good flea market. I%26#39;d say that%26#39;s unique to Raleigh. It%26#39;s fun to just browse.

Which are the best festivals in the area

Artsplosure (www.artsplosure.org) in mid-May is probably the best street festival in Raleigh. Basically, about 4-5 city blocks downtown are turned into a huge art market, plus live music stages, food, etc. It%26#39;s a pretty big, popular event.

The St. Patrick%26#39;s Day festival is also pretty nice. Parade thru downtown ends at a festival site with dancing, beer, arts %26amp; crafts, music, etc. That%26#39;s usually held the Saturday before St. Patricks Day.

Those are the two I%26#39;m most familiar with.

Hi Nanmar2

I don%26#39;t know what type of festivals interest you -- art, crafts, music, film...?

The city of Durham (not far) has several good music and film festivals each year. Not to mention the Taste of Durham food festival

Also check out Duke and UNC websites as they sponsor several music gatherings of various genres. (Jazz, Chamber Music)

The town of Cary (Raleigh burb) has two good Arts festivals each year:

1- Spring Arts Festival -- usually in April. Not as big as the one in August...

2- Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts. Larger Arts and Crafts (and music) festival in downtown area. Draws artists from all over.

Raleigh offers a First Friday Arts Walk on the first Friday (duh) of each month...many of the downtown art galleries and museums are open late with free or reduced entry.

Here is a link to some of the festivals --

I haven%26#39;t been to Reniassance -- so can%26#39;t speak to it.

Just any event that is unique, is a big event or just something that is looked forward to in Raleigh by anyone. Anything. Thanks for your info.

Another good one is the International Festival, though that%26#39;s usually pretty late in the year (Oct or Nov). Cultural exhibits, foods from all over the world, dance performances %26amp; more, all by locals.
