Things to do near Topsail Island

We%26#39;re possibly thinking of renting a home in the Topsail Island area and wondered what there is to do in the area. We%26#39;re used to Myrtle Beach and it%26#39;s many choices. Is there anything for kids? Shows of any kind? Anything close by?

Thanks

Ron

Topsail is much much more laid back than Myrtle Beach. There%26#39;s not too much to do on the island as far as shows or anything like that. There are mini-golf places, and fishing charters you can do. Most people vacation there just to enjoy the beach and relaxing.

I agree with the above post. My aunt and uncle bought a place there 20 years ago and while it has grown it still does not offer the extras that Myrtle Beach does. Personally I prefer Topsail to Myrtle Beach any day. There are some great restaurants. And the beach is much less crowded then Myrtle.

The joy of Topsail beach (which is my favorite here in town) is that this beach is peaceful, yet still affordable unlike wrightsville beach. My advice would be to relax there and drive the 20 minutes into Wilmington to do all your shopping, eating, and hit up Jungle rapids on Oleander Dr. for the kids! They have a climbing wall, go karts, mini golf, and a water park. I would also reccomend going to downtown Wilmington to tour the waterfront, even in the evening its nice and has a great waterfront boardwalk to stroll with the kids, or tour the battleship downtown. Topsail has a sea turtle rescue place that u can tour on some days as well. Hope this helps!

If you have young kids and they are used to going to Myrtle, they may be disappointed in Topsail. Topsail is a very nice beach but doesn%26#39;t offer much for kids at all. There are a few restaurants there, but a 30 minute drive to Wilmington has many more options.

If you are going to the beach to be literally ON the beach itself, it%26#39;s a great place! But if you like a lot of options for children, Myrtle may be better.

Personally, I go to Topsail on the boat almost every weekend in the summer. Water there is very clear and beautiful!

There is nothing to do at Topsail but that is the attraction. South Topsail specifically is my favorite. The main thing to do for kids is to play on the beach.

Nowhere around is like Myrtle Beach. If you want shows, minature golf, go karts, waterparks, chain restaurants, outlet malls, traffic, etc then stick to Myrtle. If you want something between crowded Myrtle and quiet Topsail look into Carolina Beach.
