Best area to rent a cabin near Asheville

My family of four will be traveling to the Asheville area in June, and besides Biltmore and Lake Lure, plan to visit Linville and Blowing Rock.

Considering that Blowing Rock is about 3 hours from Asheville and there are so many small towns between the two, does anyone have a recommendation for where we should look for a cabin? Would Black Mountain be a good, more central location? Any other suggestions for accomodations? When I look up cabins on line, there are SO MANY in the region, I don%26#39;t know where to start!

Black Mountain/Montreat would be a great location. Great small town with cute shops and restaurants. Blowing Rock is only about 2 hours from Asheville, an hour and forty mive from Black Mountain. Linville also has some nice cabin rentals, but that puts you and hour from Asheville and Blowing Rock.

Thanks for you recommendation for Black Mountain. I will now know where to start looking for a cabin! Any idea of the travel time from there to Lake Lure area and/or Maggie Valley.

We%26#39;re used to straight, flat roads down here, so it%26#39;s a little hard for us to judge traveling time through the mountains.

Thanks!

I would allow 25-30 minutes to get to Chimney Rock/Lake Lure (Hwy 9...Very curvy road...) and 1 hour %26amp; 15-25 minutes to get to Maggie Valley from Black Mountain.
