Biltmore Tour with kids

We are traveling to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC for a Saturday (one day) tour in April 2008 with our kids, ages 10 and 8. Any recommendations for a choice of the available tours at the Biltmore? Also, is bicycling around the estate done on roadways or trails?

There are definately things to do with kids at Biltmore. Some kids really love Biltmore House and others are a bit bored. Just depends on what the kids are interested in. The Farm Village is nice (located by the Winery). There are some interesting farm displays and on Saturday%26#39;s there are ususually some live demonstrations like sheep-herding dogs, blacksmith, woodworkers, etc. There is a paved bike trail or lots of off-road trails. Stop by the Outdoor Center (near the Farm Village) and they can give you bike maps. The Winery Tour offers kids grape juice so they can participate in that as well.

Thank you for the reply.

There are plenty of tour options, some of the speciality tours require a lot of walking. The self guided tour through the house lasts around an hour and a half. It is a lot of walking. Wear comfortable shoes. For learning about each room an audio tour is highly recommend. For children probably the most enjoyable and memorable activity would be a trail or carriage ride.

I just returned from there with my 10yr old, definitely get the audio tour for the kids, as well as you. It%26#39;s $8 per person, but this will hold their interest through the tour, and make it a lot easier on you.
