New Bern and Wilmington worth seeing?

Hi,

I am planning on renting a house in Nags Heads in March. I would like to take an overnight trip to see more of the coast. I was thinking of seeing New Bern and spending the night in Wilmington. Is it worth the time? I would like to see some charming towns.

Thanks

New Bern has a nice historic district. I think it would make an enjoyable afternoon. Tyron Palace is interesting and will be beautiful if the azeleas are in bloom. Washington and Bath are also very nice historic town to spend some time in.

Wilmington is about 2 hours from New Bern. There are a lot of nice resturants. It will be very pretty if the azeleas are in bloom. There is also the battleship and aquarium in the area.

Wilmington is a wonderful place to go. Walking along the waterfront is great. There are tons of great restaurants, coffeehouses, bars and live music. The battleship is neat too, and there are many stories about it being haunted. It has been years since I have been down there to Wilmington, but it is definitely worth seeing!

I live in New Bern and think it%26#39;s a great place to visit. The downtown area of New Bern is nice, several unique shops/boutiques, Tryon Palace, and the fireman%26#39;s musuem.

The drive from Nags Head to New Bern is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours (depending how fast you drive and traffic), and Wilmington is another 2 hours beyond New Bern.

However you may want to look into seeing the towns located in the OBX area. Manteo is a great small town. Then the areas of Duck, Corolla, and Hatteras, are unique in their own ways, and make great day trips from Nags Head.

Both cities are great places. Another place worth looking into is Ocracoke. I would go for an overnighter in New Bern or Ocracoke if I were choosing. You can go to Ocracoke and spend the night. Take the ferry to the mainland and see New Bern. However; I would recommend this as a 2 nighter.
