Is Hatteras Village a nice place to stay ??

Sorry for all the questions. I found a nice condo on-line it is new and located in Hattaras Village I believe. I just wanted to know what the area is like ?

My husband and I are in our early 30%26#39;s and will be taking our 1 year old son. Our parents may also go too. We are looking for a nice beach to relax. Occasionally go out for dinner within driving distance. We will probably tour the light house and Kitty Hawk. We don%26#39;t need nightlife just a place to relax and enjoy the beach and views.

Any advice would help. Or any info

Thanks so much !!

Nice area but a long drive to Kitty Hawk but doable , If you have 4x4 you will love the inlet if not there is a walk over to the beach just past the ferry docks to Ocracoke, Enough restaurants close buy to eat out every night in a different location, Some shopping but you might want to do that in Avon not far up the beach Also Avon is the best place for groceries there is a food loin there but there are several smaller food store in Hatteras village .

Be sure to take the Free ferry to Ocracoke for a day of shopping, Best seen on bikes if you have brought them or you can rent them there with kid trailers too,

I agree with the other poster. The dunes you have to cross to walk to the ocean are large in Hatteras. If you have 4 wheel drive I would go to the Inlet access ramp and find me a spot for the day. The restraunts are all right in Hatteras and there are enough to choose from.

Nags Head is really far...and if in Hatteras you have to go to Ocracoke for the day.

Hatteras Village is a great place to stay. Nice beaches, relaxed pace, and much less touristy than up north (Nags Head, Kitty Hawk area). In my opinion Hatteras Island is much more the Outer Banks experience. If you want fast food, movie theatres, night life, stay up north or go to Va. Beach. Nice restaraunts include the Fish House in Buxton, Down Under (Australian themed) in Rodanthe, and the Quarterdeck in Frisco. Beaches are clean, uncrowded. Traffic is mostly light, with lots of bicycles in use. Accomodations are resonable; you can get a decent beach house in season from around 875 for a small house to 1400-1500 for larger ones (or if you want really nice accomdodations like Hatteras Landing Village, 2-4 grand but most of the amenities aren%26#39;t needed if the beach is what you are there for). Hatteras Landing Shopping Center has restaraunts, gift shops, recreation shops like Kitty Hawk kites, and bike/scooter rentals. And it%26#39;s right next to the ferry landing to take you the the almost required visit to Ocracoke Island.

And don%26#39;t forget to visit the docks around 4 or so in the afternoons to watch the charter baots come in with their catch for the day. You can also buy fresh seafood if you aren%26#39;t a fisherman yourself- at Risky Business at Oden%26#39;s Dock. Oden%26#39;s is my favorite dock in the village. There are picnic tables and nice broad walkways and a grassy lawn area to watch the afternoon happenings. There%26#39;s also a great restauratn right there (The Breakwater)and on some weekend evenings there will be live music on the deck that you can enjoy from the dock area even if you aren%26#39;t eating at the resturant.

Sonny%26#39;s is also a great restaurant..just on the left in Hatteras as you go south on 12.

Thanks so much everyone for all your help !! We can%26#39;t wait to go.
