Driving Through - Anything worth seeing in NC??

Hi, we plan to drive through NC on the way to Florida and as Aussies we don%26#39;t really know much about NC or SC so wondering if there is anything that we absolutely have to see? We have kids 10 and 7 so any advice would be great? Or should we just drive through and stop in Georgia??

Anything at all that stands out, whether it%26#39;s nature, historical? Something that we would regret not seeing.

LOL nice. No, nothing worth seeing. Actually you may want to drive around NC, and not even cross the borders. :P

I would skip driving to Florida and spend my vacation in North and South Carolina.

I am really sorry, wasn%26#39;t meant as an insult in any way. I just meant that in Australia we don%26#39;t hear much regarding these states and I wanted to know what locals would recommend. Really wasn%26#39;t meant to insult anyone at all.

The reason we are driving from NY is to see as much of the USA as possible without spending all the time at airports. I see how the wording might have come acroos as being rude. Once again I appologize to all of NC and anyone that has taken offence.

I have looked on the internet but sometimes it is hard to decide on what stands out in each state. Places like Georgia and FLorida get much more publicity.

If you will post your route, we%26#39;ll be happy to let you know of any worthwhile stops. Best wishes.

FYI: Also - just to let you know...Myrtle Beach, SC is the #2 tourist destination in all of the USA ( Orlando is first). Additionally, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park ( and Blue Ridge Parkway) in western NC is the top most visited National Park in the country.

Wow, there is a lot to see. I%26#39;d recommend the Great Smokey Mountains. After visiting Gatlinburg, drive through the park to Cherokee, NC. If you have time, take a trip on the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, then head to the Biltmore. Also, visit Charleston, SC. What a fun trip that would be! Welcome to the USA and enjoy our beautiful world!

Depends a lot on your route and time of year of your travels. North Carolina - A drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, wine country in the Yadkin Valley, North Carolina Zoo (Asheboro). South Carolina - Grand Strande (Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle, Garden City/Surfside), Charleston, Beaufort.

When my son got stationed at Ft Bragg in NC, I found this website very helpful.

Hint if they take out my link just google nc tourism.

Enjoy your visit to the beautiful USA! Hopefully I%26#39;ll get to Australia.

If you%26#39;re traveling down I-95 you should, at the very least, stop for some Eastern NC barbecue.
