We%26#39;re hoping to take a trip in May. What we most want to do is watch our dog run on the beach. (Since we moved to the East Coast from California she doesn%26#39;t get to do that anymore.)
We%26#39;re thinking of NC, SC, or GA -- far enough south that they should be warm, but still within a day%26#39;s drive from New York.
I%26#39;ve read that beaches in Currituck County, NC, allow dogs off-leash, so that might be good.
Does anyone know of a hotel that allows dogs, close to the beach, preferably a fairly nice hotel? (We don%26#39;t get to go on many trips, so we%26#39;re prepared to splurge a bit.)
Thanks for any suggestions.

Check out www.thewinds.com website. This hotel is located at Ocean Isle Beach, NC between Myrtle Beach %26amp; Wilmington. I%26#39;ve been there too many times to list %26amp; it is great.

I don%26#39;t know of any place in particular but I always pass along this website since it might help you better than I can!:

I%26#39;d recommend Ocracoke Island. It%26#39;s beautiful, named number 1 beach in the US last year, dog friendly. Plus there are lots of places that accept dogs. Can even take your dog to a lot of the outside restaurants. We stayed at Blackbeard%26#39;s Lodge, and they accept pets. Also, it%26#39;s a nice ferry ride - we took the long ferry, but I noticed quite a few dogs happily sitting in their car, enjoying the breeze.
Good Luck,
Christine
Dare county has leash laws, and I think all the Northern Beaches are also in Dare. We own a house in South Nags Head, and in the off season we run our dog on the beach while carrying a leash, but he is well behaved. We have many neighbors who we meet at sunrise who do the same. The dogs all love to play and run in the ocean together. It is against the law though, and we make sure to put him on a leash when strange dogs are approaching. Usually not many strangers in early in the day. We don%26#39;t do this after Memorial Day. Please keep bags to clean up after your dogs too. The trip to Nags Head from NY down the eastern shore is about 8 hours...don%26#39;t go I95!
