Emerald Isle - Is there enough to do for a two week visit?

Planning our family vacation for August. Family of four - son 17 and daughter 20 by then. Husband is interested in staying at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort with our 23%26#39; trailer.

We are planning a two week trip, stopping in NYC, then DC then Emerald Isle.

We%26#39;ve heard NYC %26amp; DC will be miserable in August, so we%26#39;re considering TWO-WEEKS on Emerald Isle instead at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort?

Having trouble finding links for EI attractions and activities. Is there enough to do for a two week visit to EI?

I think there is plenty to do, as long as you don%26#39;t mind driving. In Emerald Isle there are mini golf places, go karts, Bouge pier great for fishing or walking out over the water, the beach, and things like that. Emerald Isle, Indian Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, and Atlantic Beach are all the same island, it might be a 30 minute drive from end to end, depending on traffic. Pine Knoll Shores has the NC Aquarium, which is small but very nice, and during the summer months they offer a variety of programs, for a variety of ages. I took a group of teens over last summer for surfing lesson, cost $15/person, they provided all the equipment, and were great to work with. Just book early if you are interested in any of their programs!

In Atlantic Beach you can explore Fort Macon, an old civil war fort that is really neat to explore. If you leave the island out of Atlantic Beach you can go into Morehead City, or travel over to Beaufort. In Beaufort you can catch a ferry ($12/person) over to Shackelford Banks, or to Cape Lookout lighthouse.

Leaving off the island at Emerald Isle you can go to Swansboro, which is a neat little town, or travel up 24 to Morehead. If you don%26#39;t mind a longer drive (about an hour) you can visit New Bern, the second oldest town in North Carolina. Also the birth place of pepsi.

Oh gosh yes. I took my wife and two kids, ages 12 %26amp; 13 at the time. We stayed at the Islander Motor Inn while my parents parked their motor home at the Trav-L-Park. The Trav-L-Park is very clean, nice pool, a game room, great access to the beach. You walk a block away and there is a water slide and amuzement park. Great eating and shopping places all around. Like the one person said you drive a few minutes up and down the strip you can find all sorts of things to do. Like we took the world%26#39;s largest speedboat ride to Cape Lookout lighthouse, or take the slower boat tour around the Beaufort area. Here is a link that might help:

BTW, if you Beaufort eat at the Sanitary Restaurant. We always make it a point to hit it at least once on a trip. Plus lots of great shops along there.

At Pine Knoll Shores is the Marine Resources Center and you can see all sorts of ocean life on exhibit.

Believe me there is something for eveyone. At least through the site above you get ideas of city names and then you can search for more specific information on them.

BTW, we%26#39;re going this summer as well. Usually the end of July like last time with the parents staying at Trav-L-Park. We can hardly wait.
