Labor Day Drive

Hello,

Hubby and I are arriving into Norfolk airport approx. 11:30 pm on that Friday. Already have reservations in Nags Head for Saturday and Sunday night. My question is should we drive directly to Nags Head or stay somewhere like Chesapeake for the night. It%26#39;s been a few years since we%26#39;ve done the drive. We didn%26#39;t think it was that bad (arriving after midnight) but many local people thought we were crazy. We only have the weekend, so we want to spend as much time as possible in the Outer Banks.

Labor Day Drive

Since you only have a short amount of time on the outer banks I would drive that evening. You might not make it to there until 2am or so, but I think that is a lot better than staying in Chesapeake %26amp; driving on Saturday when you might hit lots of traffic. My husband and I usually travel during that week and the traffic isn%26#39;t horrible but it%26#39;s not great either. I would just check to make sure you can check into where ever you are staying that late in the evening one day early. If they are unable to fill your request than perhaps it isn%26#39;t worth it, but I would figure it would be better to just get the drive over with and be able to wake up already one the Outer Banks!

Thanks for the info - checked with our hotel already booked for Sat %26amp; Sun %26amp; just added Friday. Our flight arrives @ 11:30 pm in Norfolk but by the end of August the flight could change again - maybe to an earlier flight.

Will be checking in on this forum once the season hits for all the latest....
